8 Steps to Melt my Depression

I was in bed for a few days to start out my 2018. Although it was a hard pill to swallow, pun intended, I surrendered to what my body was demanding. Sleep and rest which in turn quickly spiraled into a wave of depression. Being in bed for 6+ days can do that to a person. 



Why am sharing this with you ?— Bc its the truth. Its what’s real. I could give you my highlights but to be honest the low moments are the teachable moments, they are MY teachable moments. When the depression hits and things turn a bit dim thats the times to dive deepest. I start to take a hard look at whats going on. I peel till I get closer to the core of the onion, my truth. After so much introspection you have to go out and live it though, gather new experiences, push yourself, try new things, and test your limits. So here we are. I want to share some tips I use to help shake off the funk, the cloud, the depression, whatever word you want to use. Have a read, take what you need and leave the rest.....



1-Move your body!!- Work out, stretch, move, climb, dance, skate, ride your bike( to name a few of my favorites)


2-Be around friends- THIS IS SO TRUE --Sometimes there may be only a select few that you would want to interact with while in this state and that’s ok. Go towards them. Ask for help. 


3-Laugh More: Go to a comedy show, Net Fix stand up, smoke weed( if that helps you- that's a whole other blog post subject)


4-Card Readings: I grab my deck of cards and do a spread to give me a little guidance. 


5-Mediate:We, myself included, tend to try and avoid the negative feelings. Push it away. Instead move towards it, look at it, talk about it, write about it, whatever you need to do. 


6-Nature: Specifically jumping in the ocean, earthing with your barefoot in the grass, sand, dirt, rocks etc.. Feel the sun on your skin.



7-Push Yourself: Next time someone asks you to do something and your mind rejects it, do it anyway. Challenge your habitual way of thinking in order to create new patterns and habits. This has been a game changer for me. 


This is a big one....


8-Reevaluate things: Don’t go down a rabbit hole and spiral into complete panic turn your life upside down mode. I’m talking about that relationship that is brining you down, the job that isn’t letting you shine bright, finding boundaries with family members, cultivating self love, what’s working? What isn’t? Ask yourself how you are doing and actually give a shit about the response you get. 


I have felt so inspired to share this new wave of energy with you all. I am in the midst of working on a few different projects and I am excited to share them with you.
